CONCERT CHOIR
Concert Choir is the main choir for the Young Voices organization. It is a non-auditioned choir of 5th-12th grade young men and women that meets on Mondays, 6:00-7:30 at North Monroe Baptist Church in the choir room. This group focuses on basic to advanced elements of music and singing including proper vocal technique, pitch and rhythm, music reading, choral singing technique, singing in various genres, expanding vocal range, ear training, breath support, diction, singing in tune/pitch matching, stage presence, movement and music, and building a sense of safety and comradery while sharing music together. The Concert Choir travels each year on a spring trip to compete and receive adjudication in a national choral festival competition. Traveling together is a vital part of being a part of the Concert Choir because it creates lifelong memories and invaluable educational and personal experiences for our group and the singers as individuals.
ADVANCED WOMEN’S ENSEMBLE
The Advanced Women’s Ensemble is an auditioned elite group of young women singers in 8th-12th grades that rehearses on Mondays, 7:30-8:30. This choir is an “add-on” option for Concert Choir, which means only Concert Choir singers are eligible for auditioning. Women’s Ensemble travels on the spring concert and performs along with the Concert Choir at all events throughout the year.
